Alright- let’s start with allergies. I have “never” had any allergies and it’s something I’ve been really proud of throughout my life. However, when I was 2, I had tubes put in my ears because of chronic earaches, and at 3, I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out because of chronic infections. Because of these two things, I also had to go to speech therapy as I couldn’t hear for the first few years of my life and my throat was always so swollen that it hurt to talk. (or so I’ve been told)
I also have had chronic headaches and migraines my ENTIRE life. And had severe eczema and bouts of acne.
I’ve chalked all of this up to just randomness that happens to everyone, I just lucked out and got all these things.
I medicate for my headaches and have topical cream for my eczema and moved on with life and just dealt with it. They have always been manageable except for major outbreaks and I consider myself lucky as there are many worse things.
However, after the girls were born, things started to get rough. My eczema got to the point where my hands were bloody, blistery open wounds (my mom had to bathe the girls and at one point I couldn’t even change diapers without gloves because the wipes affected my hands, but so did the gloves if they had powder in them). I also started choking on my food and had BAD heart burn and my migraines were brutal. It was all so bizarre.
After years of doctor appointments and blood tests trying to figure out what it is, I found out that I have an auto immune issue and it might be chalked up to an allergy. My esophagus issue was EOE, Eosinophilic Esophagitis- a chronic, allergic inflammatory disease of the esophagus. And that ALL of my symptoms probably all stem from the SAME issue- an allergy that I’ve had all of my life, but because I never did anything about it, my body kept rejecting it in different ways and continued to worsen in symptoms.
TMI alert- now it’s my bowels….they are UNPREDICTABLE and it makes it hard to leave the house, especially in the mornings when it’s at its’ worst and makes teaching hard when you can’t just LEAVE to go to the bathroom at ANY time…and sometimes I don’t HAVE time to wait, I need the bathroom IMMEDIATELY!
So, today I’m going for more blood tests to determine what it is, but my doctor is fairly certain it is…..UGH!!!! GLUTEN and DAIRY! I will be sad as I LOVE BEER, BREAD, and CHEESE!!!! But, if it will get rid of my symptoms and enable me to get off of my meds….I will do it.
In the MEANTIME, a girlfriend’s child was having a fundraiser for their school where they were selling Krispy Kreme donuts and I bought a DOZEN. So, I’d better get eating before I find out I can’t eat them anymore!
Auntie Alicia bought the girls new dresses with arrows all over them and new pants with hearts on the knees. Really the dresses were a thank you from Pheobe and Piper for all the clothes the girls gave them this year.
We have a 3D printer at our school and I asked the person, Jason, who runs it if he wanted to practice by making me a Sorting Hat from Harry Potter…he didn’t need to practice but I was hoping he’d say yes, and he DID!!!! Thanks Jason- pretty amazing!!!
I also got this new sweater- I solemly swear that I am up to no good. And on the back it says misheif managed with footprints. It’s the Marauders Map from Harry Potter. My co-worker got the same one and we are going to wear them on twin day!
And my mom got this card for her birthday from her best friend, Jane. It’s perfect, isn’t it?
Alright, that’s it for today. Have a GREAT Hump Day!
