Well, yesterday was WAY more emotional than I thought it would be. In fact, it was actually more emotional for me than I REMEMBER last year being (kindergarten)
One of the reasons is that all summer I was telling Leah she had LeBlanc and Lily had Betourneau, and they were content with who they had and who was in their room. BUT when Matt called a few weeks ago, he says he was told the opposite. And so this morning, Leah kept saying no I have LeBlanc, I have LeBlanc (her friend Gracie is in that class and it was devastating for her to realize she was not with her). Even though we had already told them “MY” error, this morning it hit her and she was nervous. She is more shy than Lily, so she was really apprehensive. And so….the MOM GUILT set in.
So, I’m pretty sure by the time they were in the car all was fine, but I was emotional and sad and felt guilty and I worried.
However, lo and behold, when they got to school….it turned out I WAS RIGHT! So, Leah was super happy.
The annual pics- they both want to be TEACHERS! Last year Lily wanted to be a doctor, and Leah wanted to be an engineer. It is going to be so fun to watch this continue to change throughout the years.
And Katie had left this book in the mail box for the girls with a sweet note, so we read it in the morning before heading to school. The girls LOVED it Katie, and referenced it a few times this yesterday morning- so thank you!
When I got home I heard ALL about their classes, and who they sat with and what old friends were in their class and what new friends they have now. They also are VERY excited about taking the bus and being home early with daddy (I will talk about THAT in TOMORROW’s POST)
It was pretty cute to see how excited they are. And although they miss Mrs. Smith from Kindergarten, they got to see her and hug her and they seem to like their new teachers as well.
And they BOTH re-read the book from Auntie Katie.
And I also had my first day with my new grade 9’s. The first day in high school is ONLY grade nines so they can get used to the building before the older kids come in. It’s a nice way for them to transition. And I have a few students in my classes whose siblings I’ve taught, so I was super excited about that!
Of course, there are a couple who seem to be in a power struggle with authorities, but there are always a few 😉
I have a good feeling about the year!
And since I didn’t have to pick them up from daycare and was able to go right home, I was home earlier than usual. And the girls were already unpacked and home, so it made it so I had more quality time with them. The evening actually seemed really long.
We made a delicious supper (homemade pizza- the girls made it with us) and then we sat outside in the breezeway as the girls put on a “show” for us.
Wednesday Pose of the Day!
Seems like a few weeks since I’ve last done this. I’m excited to get back into it.
Seeing how I’m getting back in to my Yoga 110 class, I am going to begin with Tadasana- which is one of the first poses I begin my class with as well. Also known as Mountain Pose- a grounding pose and so very important as a portion of this pose is seen in almost all other asanas.
Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
Typically you begin this pose with the big toes touching and the heels slightly apart. However, depending on your hip structure, it might be more comfortable to have feet about hip distance (especially for women). So, try both ways and see which feels BEST for YOU!
Ground down through the “tri-pod”- the outside of the big toe, baby toe and through the heels.
***A tip I tell my students is to lift all ten toes and one by one place them down, this will help to spread and root them to the earth.
Lift the arches
Engage the quads and lift the kneecaps
Tuck the tailbone ****buttocks remains soft
Core is engaged, arms are engaged fingers spread pointing down towards the earth and palms face front
***If the core is NOT engaged, then the belly sticks out and there is too much of a curve in the lower spine (think bad posture!!)
Roll the shoulders back and down away from the ears
Tuck chin slightly to elongate the neck
Lift the the crown of the head
Alright, that’s it for today- Have a GREAT Wednesday!
