Monday Mantra + Weekend Update + The thing Matt Mourned the Most from his Previous Life

Good morning gorgeous people!

It is another beautiful day out there!  And although the high temperatures are beating records all over the world, and it is a bit worriesome, we are trying to enjoy it and get the most out of it!

We had a wonderful weekend.  Friday was pretty low-key.  It was a rainy day, so I picked the girls up from camp and then we went home and had a movie night.

Saturday, we were up early and out the door to look at tear drop trailers.  It’s funny, Matt and I were very outdoorsy when we first met.  We went on epic ten day hiking trips on the Fundy coast, and canoed and portaged rivers together.  And obviously went climbing and rappelling often as well.  We biked and ran together and went camping a LOT.

Obviously, a lot has changed and our hobbies and pastimes had to change as well.  We mourned that life, but found many new things that we enjoy doing.  And Matt never really talked about missing things.  Except camping.  He has camped his WHOLE life, and the outdoors was a HUGE part of his childhood. This is a pic of his as a child with a hiking pack on that his father made, that is almost BIGGER than HE is!

So, we discovered something called Tear Drop trailers.  We went on Saturday to look at them, and mostly to see if Matt can transfer in and out of them easily.  And he could!  So easily!  And there are doors on either side, so it’s easy for all of us to get in.  And the four of us could all sleep in it for a few years and then after that, the girls can tent.

We are REALLY excited about the prospect of being a camping family again, as we ALWAYS thought the girls would grow up in tents.  So, it’s not a for sure thing, as we need to price them out, etc., but I haven’t seen Matt so excited about something since he started biking.  So, that makes ME excited as well!  The girls are PUMPED and wanted to buy it IMMEDIATELY and go camping Saturday night, haha.

Then, Saturday afternoon/evening, we had our annual Deck Party at Alicia and Neils.  And it was another success.  The kids had a GREAT time, with a bouncy castle, tons of food and drinks, a play station (with toys and colouring books) and a movie on a big screen downstairs.

The adults had a pretty good time too 😉

And Krys and Mark showed up with Baby Ollie for a visit as well!

And we got to spend time with some of the people we love the most.  And the kids all had the greatest time- which is a bonus!

Sunday morning was slow, and the girls were so overtired and cranky so we had a lazy morning.

They had a friend come over in the afternoon and had a great time playing outside with her for a few hours.  They even had a picnic outside.

And then we took off and parked downtown and walked to the ice cream store.

And had some fun at the park before heading home for bed.

All in all, it was a pretty successful weekend, and today we are heading to the beach with my sister and her kids.  Should be fun!

Being happy is easiest when we stop worrying about what we don’t have and start focusing on what we DO have.

Have a great day folks!  Until tomorrow,
