Mindfulness + Parent/Teacher

We had a great day yesterday!  We woke up and the girls were still on a high from eating at a restaurant (maybe we don’t take them out enough haha….) and so they were in very high spirits.

Then we ate our breakfast and got ready for school.  How are these ladies almost done Kindergarten?  They are growing so fast.  They look so grown up here!  Not to mention their hair is almost down to their bums!

Me, on the other hand….looking a TAD BIT older…and a WHOLE lot more tired!  Wrinkles and dark circles….but I love it 😉

I really should go to bed when they do!  They are so rested and wake up NOT wanting to go back to bed…when my alarm goes off at 4:42….I’m just ITCHING to hit snooze!  ESPECIALLY this morning!  I only got home from my workshop at 9:15 and in bed by about 10:30 and asleep even later.  Sooooo, 4:42 came WAY too soon!

I was scrolling through Instagram yesterday, and for those of you who follow me on facebook, you saw this yesterday.  I came across an AMAZING picture of my hubby being featured on the handcycling club Instagram account.

His team Canada NextGen coach is coming down in May and June to run a camp, and Matt is attending and they are hoping to get people to come out and try to sport in hopes of building it.  So, if you know any paraplegic or quadriplegics, encourage them to come give it a shot!

Last night, I attended a course on Mindfulness at Kini Wellnes.  I was looking forward to this for so long, but as it grew closer we realized it was the same week as Parent/Teacher Interviews and so it was a bit daunting.

I am OLD, and mother to young folks, so being out so late (9 hahaha) TWO nights in a row during the WEEK is hard!!!  Getting up this morning, like I said, was a bit rough.

The course was really nice.  It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but how can you not enjoy two hours of YOU time on a MAT meditating?  We were brought to a happy place in our meditation and I used it to remember the summer Matt and I got together and also had some memories of my apartment in Halifax with my cat who just recently passed away- so it was AMAZING and I had a smile on my face the whole time.  I MIGHT have fallen asleep for a bit as well…whoops.

And, they also gave us a cute little parting gift of bath salts and a discount off on their float therapy and some oil.  I also bought these OM incense sticks as they were lit during the two hour course and I LOVED the smell!

And a really neat statue they have at the studio.  Their studio is REALLY pretty!

Thankfully, I had turned my phone off because Matt was texting me while I was there and sending me pics of the girls.  This one stood out…they had gone in to our bedroom and put on daddy’s clothes.  They look pretty good 😉

And when I got home I went in to check on the girls and AS usual, I found Leah in the strangest position….only this time it wasn’t her body…it was her hand.  She had GIFT wrapped her hand with a Christmas bow that she has….I obviously took it off as I was nervous about her losing circulation.  This kid is a nut! 🙂

And now today is parent/teacher interviews.  Although I LOVE PTI, as I enjoy meeting parents and chatting with them (and the kids, if they choose to come), it is a LATE and LONG day.

It’s interesting too, I also enjoy it because I know that it can be an exciting (or nerve-racking) evening FOR parents.  I get this now, as this is my first year being on the OTHER side of the table as well.  I LOVE hearing about my kid and I also get nervous, hoping everything is going well (especially for Kindergarten- on the behavior side of things….ESPECIALLY with my girls being in the SAME class….can be dangerous!)

I go tomorrow BEFORE my own parent/teacher interviews as the girls teacher is AMAZING and was gracious enough to have Matt and I come first thing before my own interviews start.  I am so grateful for this as I really don’t want to miss out.

I will let you know how it goes haha.

And….it is OFFICIALLY spring in the Maritimes….haha.

Happy Thursday!

Namaste
